The Valdeorras Wine Route takes us through the history and wine culture of one of Galicia’s most unique regions
Located in the northeast of the province of Ourense, Valdeorras has been a benchmark in wine production for centuries, from Roman times to the present day. Since the Romans brought the first vines, grapevines took deep root in these lands and became a fundamental pillar of local identity, shaping the region’s history, daily life, and traditions.
This route not only invites you to taste the prestigious Godello and Mencía wines, but also to immerse yourself in its rich historical and cultural heritage. Visitors can discover the iconic covas (traditional underground wine cellars) and enjoy unique landscapes of mountains and rivers, where vineyards stretch across bright terraces.
Comprising eight municipalities (A Rúa, O Barco de Valdeorras, Rubiá, Petín, O Bolo, Carballeda de Valdeorras, Larouco, and Vilamartín de Valdeorras), the Valdeorras Wine Route blends tradition and nature into an experience lived through the senses.
